Together We Can...
St. Francis House Food Pantry
St. Francis House Food Pantry is a program of Catholic Social Services. As the largest pantry in the state of Alaska, more than 3,000 pounds of food is distributed to approximately 100 households every day that they are open. St. Francis House operates a client-choice model, where families are able to shop in the pantry as they would in a grocery store, selecting items that best fit their needs.
This year’s Together We Can campaign will be raising funds for a much needed update to the pantry. As a client choice pantry, St. Francis House highly respects a shopper’s right to choose their own food and with that, the food should be displayed in a way that makes the shopping experience a dignified one. This includes updating freezers and refrigerators to be more reflective of a grocery store than an emergency food pantry. This will help to display food items in an appealing way and will impact the efficiency of the pantry therefore lessening wait times.
Having access to healthy food is a basic human right, and St. Francis House believes that this right should be one met with dignity and respect.
Your continued investment in supporting our 2019 Charity Ball Together We Can Campaign will provide critical funding to help families and individuals facing hunger.
