Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) provides a bridge for refugees (individuals who have had to flee their countries of origin due to the tragedies of persecution and war) from their former life experiences to the new skills required for success in the United States. Through a focus on economic self-sufficiency, community integration, and a respect for unique cultures, history, and traditions, RAIS creates an environment of compassion and encouragement for refugees to flourish.
Having lost their homes, personal property, and careers in their home country, refugees arrive to the US motivated to work and learn. They have a strong desire to regain self-sufficiency and economic stability for their families, as well as give back to the communities that they have resettled in.
As part of our employment and education services, RAIS has created a specific culinary job skills training program that provides our refugee clients practical and hands-on training which better prepares them for their first jobs in the US. The goal of this job training pop-up restaurant is to assist clients in gaining experience and skills that will enable them to attain and maintain employment. This event allows our clients to earn some income while they wait to become employed.
